The centerpiece of Moonmanas’ interactive installation for the duo exhibition is the mythical bird Karavek, known for its enchanting melody. Overflowing cabinet and cluttered working desks imply an ongoing zoological research and an exploration to locate the fictional bird in reality. Various sources provide reference texts and images, plume and specimens of birds, talismans for the forest expedition, and voice recorder, all scattered around like bits of breadcrumb leading to the mystic bird. Previously existed only in legends, the urgent need to establish a pragmatic provenance to vindicate its legitimacy arises largely from the age of investigable historical record. The installation raises doubts about the authoritative version of history and nature that perpetuates myths and beliefs.
